We'd all finished a long day at work and Pete and i were walking back to camp and the coconut lodge when we saw this really nasty, long Tiger snake. I screamed like a little girl and legged it! Next thing i know the farmer comes up the driver and asks what is going on, i tell him about the snake and he goes to get the tools to get rid of this snake. Namely a pitchfork, a syth and a hoe. The three of us were like a angry mob, less the flaming torches. Pete took a swing at him and nicked him. Next thing i know he's turned around and he's coming straight at us. We all backed away and then Dave goes to have a crack, misses with the first swing but cuts it in half with the second. By now i was a good 10 metres or so away because i was wearing flip flops (not because I'm a little girl and was really scared, just for you too know!)Dave backs away again and then steps in to deliver the final blow which cut its head off! The hunt was over but even the little bit of head was trying to bit at us although it was unable to move. Tom and Joss came out just after the snake had stopped moving. I'll also to have to put a few photos of that up.
The reason Dave killed the snake was because it was too close to our camp and the orchards. We laid him to rest a few metres from where he stopped moving.
The tiger snake is the 8th deadliest snake in the world. Here's a little something i pulled from every bodies friend Wikipedia... Symptoms of a bite include localized pain in the foot and neck region, tingling, numbness, and sweating, followed by a fairly rapid onset of breathing difficulties and paralysis. While antivenom is effective, mortality rates approach 45% if not treated.

Don't blame you for running, leave the macho stuff to the Ozzie guys who are too dull to know better!
